Intent

As a future art educator, it is important to consider the various aspects of teaching and their implications. Teaching different subjects in different manners can have an impact on our students.

It is also important for educators to explore and practice the subjects they are teaching their students. If one cannot interpret and contemplate the subject themselves, how can they instruct others to do so?

This site is intended to contain my reflections on education, art, mathematics, and life as an educator. Hopefully, my thoughts and works will inspire others to think about these subjects as well.

  1. Cool Lesson plan, yo.
    Lets exchange.

Movie, funny, well edited, quite entertaining. It really made me feel emotion for gingers, which I don't usually do.

This movie was a great 2 minutes of my life, I'd watch it again.

  2. Great use of Worksheets. They seem like a very nice way of grading students work.

  3. Paigey, good job. let's get this done. I like that you integrated the community within your lesson. And your movie is perfect and awesome and humorous and very well done.

  4. I like the research and advocacy aspect of your lesson plan. I think 10 is a bit much, maybe 3, 5 or 20 would be better. I enjoy the community aspect allows the chitlins to be activated within their environment.

The launching mechanism of a carrier ship that assists planes in taking off could throw a pickup truck over a mile. That in itself is super interesting, a whole mile, I can't even run a mile and this crazy mechanism can chuck a truck that far! WOW!

Your lesson plan is also a WOW!

  5. I think your lesson plan is pretty interesting - I like that you are involving other current events/issues into the art curriculum. One weakness is that I'm not sure group projects work well in a high school setting, so if you do that you should have some really strict guidelines for group participation and how they will each be graded. You also should be more clear how you are making the groups, whether they will form their own or not, because some students just don't care, so the workload may fall on a few students that do care.

  6. Paige, this is a very well thought out lesson plan. It promotes both social awareness and builds partnership. These are very important with a developing child and you've found a fun way to help build this. I can't really see anything to change in it other than using social documentaries and such as artist examples.

  7. Your Community lesson plan is a great way to inspire students to make a difference! By creating an advocacy film, they are learning how to communicate, how to promote awareness, how to identity needs, and how to use digital tools for their individual goals. It is just one lesson, but they will learn many different aspects about the big idea. Very sneaky :)
For your iMovie, the narration was really hard to hear, especially when the "ginger" was talking with an altered voice. The film was very creative and entertaining though!! The news style of film was definitely appropriate, and the acting was done really well to convince the viewers of the "seriousness" of it. Good job!! :)

  8. HAHA. your imovie was a ton of fun! students would LOVE something like that and I could see them really getting into making a video like that of their own if you did this as a project in school. it was really nicely edited, the only thing was that I couldnt understand what Paige was saying in her interviews just because the computer wasnt loud enough.
    great job guys! ( :

  9. Your iMovie project is really humorous, and definitely an interesting way to cover a serious topic. The one weakness is the volume differences in the narration, as well as in the interview with the anonymous ginger.
